RICHMOND, VA-The Turning Basin Building, the new 93,000-sf Class A office and retail structure along the city's riverfront area, secures $13.1 million in financing for Turning Basin LLC through John B. Levy & Company. The building cost $17 million to develop.

SANDSTON, VA-Local hotel developer and owner Shamin RIC Hospitality opens the doors of a new Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel. Located near the Richmond Airport, the six-story luxury property offers 125 upscale suites, as well as 2,500 sf of meeting space.

WASHINGTON, DC-Six teams of architects and engineers have made the US General Services Administration's list of designated groups to submit design proposals for the multi-million renovation of its aging 830,000-sf complex. Work on the project is scheduled to begin in December 2004.

ALEXANRDIA, VA-The Presidential Greens, a 64-year old, 397-unit apartment complex, gets a new owner as United Dominion Realty Trust acquires the property in a $30.2 million deal. The sale also includes United Dominion's assumption of a $20.3 million financing loan for the complex.

WASHINGTON, DC-The Mercury Building at 1925 K Street sells to a joint venture between Bresler & Reiner and The Kaempfer Company for a reported $27.25 million. Building owner the Communications Workers of America had a slew of suitors for the Class B structure that sits in the District's prime downtown area.

RESTON, VA-Reston Town Center District's two-building Discovery Square complex reaches 85% capacity with telecommunications firm SI International Inc.'s commitment to 57,328 sf in the 180,000-sf Two Discovery building.

FRONT ROYAL, VA-MeadWestvaco will close the doors of its Westab Consumer & Office Products Group building in Kellye Industrial Park this August. Located on a 35-acre site within the Warren County-owned park, the building cost $12 million when it was constructed in 1995.
