LAS VEGAS-As expected, Phoenix-based Aztar Corp. this afternoon terminated its merger agreement with locally based Pinnacle Entertainment in favor of a higher offer by Columbia Entertainment, the gaming subsidiary of Fort Mitchell, KY-based Columbia-Sussex Corp. Columbia's offer was set to expire at 2 p.m. today.
LAS VEGAS-The determination, made last night, puts locally based Pinnacle Entertainment in a position to collect a $78-million cash consolation prize or boost the value of its merger agreement for Aztar Corp. beyond where analysts think it should go.
ST. LOUIS-The US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri signs off on the purchase of the President Casino St. Louis Riverfront to locally based Pinnacle Entertainment. The casino is within walking distance of Pinnacle's $350 million project in downtown St. Louis, which is currently under construction.

LAS VEGAS-The latest development within the 36-square-mile Summerlin master planned community will include 1.2 million sf of retail shopping, 5,500 housing units, a 250-room four-star hotel, and at least 250,000 sf of office space. Construction of Summerlin Centre's 100-acre community hub will get underway in the spring. Fall 2008 is when the first developments are expected to open, but the project won't be built out for another 10 years after that.
