BIRMINGHAM, AL-In a deal valued at upward of $50 million, Atlanta-based Barry Real Estate Cos. and a fund managed by VEF Advisors LLC acquires the tallest office building in the city from Equitable Life Assurance Society and the North Sixty Associates. The new owners plan as much as $12 million in upgrades to the property.

BELLEVUE, WA-The lease, for one-and-half floors in the 353,500-sf downtown office tower, backfills some of the space vacated last July by Puget Sound Energy.

SAN JOSE, CA- Doerken Properties Inc. buys White Road Plaza, a neighborhood shopping center located in East San Jose. The capitalization rate in the investment is 8.3%, according to the firm that brokered the transaction.
