CAMBRIDGE, MA-Brookline Ventures, LLC, an affiliate of Lyme Properties, acquires a 45,000-sf industrial warehouse building at 130 Brookline St., which it plans to renovate into a lab/research facility. The move is not surprising considering the strength of the city's biotech market.

WEST BRIDGEWATER, MA-Locally based Shaw's Supermarkets Inc. purchases the rights to 18 leases of the former Ames Department Store for $48.5 million. The move comes as competition among the region's grocery stores is becoming fierce with the larger chains rapidly opening up new locations.

BOSTON-The Boston Redevelopment Authority wants the four finalists bidding to develop Hayward Place, a valuable piece of real estate located in the heart of the city, to agree to meet its funding schedule. The city chose four finalists for the $23-million project this past March.

WILMINGTON, MA-Archon Group leases 84,111-sf of its industrial space to four firms. Federal Express takes 39,727 sf while Mayo Medical commits to 28,229 sf and Opto-line Associates and Directory Distribution Associates ink deals for 9,750 sf and 6,405 sf respectively.
