GASTONIA, NC-Millionaire Robert Johnston plans to franchise his Safe Homes of America and Safe Inns of America concepts to conventional multifamily developers, historically skeptical of breaking from tradition. Gastonia is 20 miles west of Downtown Charlotte.
CONCORD, NC-J&B Development and Management is scheduling a February ground-breaking on Moss Creek, a 513-acre venture that will comprise 500,000 sf of retail, 400,000 sf of office and 1,430 townhomes and single-family residences. The site is 20 miles north of Downtown Charlotte.

YORK, SC-A private developer and the city have invested $1.58 million into restoring the 148-year-old inn on South Congress Street and converting the premises into residences and limited commercial space. York is 15 miles south of Downtown Charlotte.
CHARLOTTE-Two-year-old Fuel Pizza's fourth restaurant is planned for Camden Park, a newly-named 3,800-sf commercial corner that Seaport Development and JDH Development are joint venturing at 1600 Camden Road at East Park Avenue. Rents will average $22 per sf.
