AUSTIN-The nonprofit American Village Communities is drafting a list of community links for its latest buy, the 308-unit Metropolis in Austin's southeast submarket. The eclectic multifamily complex, with its new goals, has brought about $16 million.

SAN ANTONIO-St. Louis-based, family-owned Drury Inns Inc. is off and running on its 11th hotel in San Antonio. The 210-room facility is going up in the city's northwest submarket and will deliver in spring 2002.

AUSTIN-The Weitzman Group's midyear retail report concludes the Austin region has reached stability in occupancy, rent, construction and leasing. New product undoubtedly will be filled. Occupancy is riding at 96%, a built-in impetus for rent hikes.

AUSTIN-The decision's still out as to whether the reorganizing Southern Union Co. will downsize its office space as it cuts 48 jobs and relocates some Austin functions. The energy company has reserved 60,000 sf in the under-construction Barton Skyway IV.

AUSTIN-The city has weeded the pack of six developers vying for the 709-acre Mueller redevelopment project. The short list consists of Catellus, Lennar Corp. and the Mueller Redevelopment Team, the only one that's based in Austin.
