The new facility will expand Thomas Jefferson University's research capacity and, along with the Bluemle Life Sciences Building and Jefferson Alumni Hall, will create a "research corridor" along Locust Street.

An auction for the assets of Destination Maternity is scheduled to take place on Dec. 9, 2019. The deadline to submit qualified bids is Dec. 5, 2019, and the company expects to seek court approval of the winning bid on Dec. 12.

If confirmed, Gramian will replace outgoing PennDOT secretary Leslie S. Richards, who will become general manager of SEPTA in January. Gramian will assume the role of acting PennDOT secretary effective Friday, Dec. 6, 2019.

The deal was announced by New York City-based Meridian Capital Group, which arranged $97 million in acquisition financing to the new ownership.
