PLANO, TX-The 234-unit, class A Villas of Spring Creek in Plano go to an out-of-state investor in a 16-bid face-off. Interest ran high in light of a mandate that the buyer take an abutting 11 acres entitled for a 162-unit second phase.

AUSTIN-Simon Property Group terminates a lease with Knoxville, TN-based Regal Cinemas, which is under bankruptcy protection, and signs a state-of-the-art casual dining concept to the seven-screen Arbor Theater. The eatery opens in the fall.

SUGAR LAND, TX-Imperial Sugar, following the lead of many corporations today, decides to unload more than 3,500 acres in eight US locations. Proceeds will be used to reduce debt. In Texas, 1,427 acres make the "to go" list.

BOSTON-An 836,950-sf development proposed for 3.4 acres here in South Boston on the waterfront gets the go ahead from the Boston Redevelopment Authority. The $240 million project includes a 440-room hotel, a restaurant, retail space and 460 residential units.
