Fernando Landa Landa: “It is important to build a skill set with value to commercial real estate companies, be it financial analysis, legal skills, accounting, property management, etc.”

SAN DIEGO—Top credentials will get your foot in the door, but young professionals must also seek mentors who will train them to handle sophisticated transactions, Crosbie Gliner Schifffman Southard & Swanson LLP partner Fernando Landa tells GlobeSt.com. Landa, age 35, specializes in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing and disposition of commercial real estate assets. He has worked for such law firms as Allen Matkins and Hecht Solberg and also worked as general counsel for national real estate services firm Trigild. He possesses a unique expertise in distressed real estate workouts and receiverships, handling the sale of nearly $1 billion dollars of real estate assets through the judicial process over the last five years.

Landa will be participating in NAIOP San Diego’s Developing Leaders Lunch & Learn Series event on Emerging Leaders on May 18. We spoke exclusively with him about some of the topics to be addressed at the event.
