SAN DIEGO—With the San Diego Chargers likely heading Downtown or leaving town, Qualcomm Stadium, along with 166 acres of prime real estate, will soon be up for grabs. Panelists at a recent ULI San Diego-Tijuana District Council breakfast suggested frameworks of what possibly could be developed on the site.

Moderated by Andrew Michajlenko, project manager at Gensler, the event featured panelists Perry Dealy, president and CEO of Dealy Development Inc.; Vincent Mudd, COO of Carrier Johnson + CULTURE; and Frank Wolden, principal of AVRP Skyport Studios. The panelists emphasized that their ideas were not planned proposals, but rather suggested frameworks of what could possibly be developed. Everyone agreed that the property, located in the middle of Mission Valley, holds significant opportunity and would best serve as a multi-use public asset, incorporating a large park, apartments, offices, retail, student housing and a sports/entertainment venue.
