ROCKVILLE, MD-Two years after declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Maryland District Court Judge Duncan W. Keir calls CRIIMI MAE Inc.’s plan of reorganization “fair and reasonable.” He says their recently submitted plan meets all confirmation standards required by the bankruptcy code provided that a confirmation order is approved and entered by the judge. The company is submitting a proposed confirmation order for the judge’s review and approval by Nov. 17.

Judge Keir says he will hold a hearing Wednesday, Nov. 22 if he has any questions about the proposed order. Otherwise, he says he will sign the order confirming CRIIMI MAE’s reorganization plan.

To resolve objections to confirmation filed recently by Merrill Lynch Mortgage Capital Inc. and German American Capital Corp., the confirmation order includes a provision for the plan to become effective no later than March 15, 2001 unless the parties and the court agree to extend the date or the court extends that date.
