Barnes & Noble to Open 28,000-SF Store

WARWICK, RI-Barnes & Noble, Inc. has signed a lease agreement to open a 28,000-sf store at 1324 Bald Hill Rd. The new store will replace the Barnes & Noble located nearby at 1441 Bald Hill Rd., which will close when the new one opens.

According to Christine Tzen, spokesperson for Barnes & Noble, the new location will stand across the street from the old store. She tells GlobeSt.com that the new outlet gives the company an extra 400 sf of space. “We wanted a larger store to better serve the community,” she says, and adds that Barnes & Noble wanted to remain in the area because it is a “popular location.”

Among the features of the new store will be nearly 200,000 book, music, DVD and magazine titles and a café. She notes that the extra space will enable the store to also include a music listening station called RedDotNet.

Mitchell Klipper, CEO of the bookstore chain, says the store will strive to become “an integral part of the community” by hosting author signings, book discussion groups, and children’s events.
