GOLETA, CA-Wyatt Technology Corp. has signed a 10-year, $3-million lease for 20,000 sf of R&D space in the 106,000-sf Hollister Center, which is the first lease signed since renovations began at the center, according to Sares-Regis Group.

Wyatt, which is a developer and manufacturer of scientific instruments for the bio-technology, pharmaceutical and polymer industries, plans to relocate a 40-employee operation from a converted citrus sorting building it has occupied for the past six years to the newly renovated Hollister center at 6300 Hollister Ave.

The company, founded in Santa Barbara in 1982, says the new facilities will enable it to operate more efficiently. The site also is convenient for its location adjacent to the Santa Barbara Airport and the University of California, enabling domestic and international visitors easy access to its technical center and the university.

Sares-Regis Group acquired the Hollister property in February. The 106,000-sf center, which previously was home to Applied Magnetics, is undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation that includes seismic retrofit, new façade, high-performance skylights, new landscaping and new roof. The work is expected to be completed in November, the projected move-in for Wyatt.

Wyatt was represented by John Peckham in the Santa Barbara office of Grubb & Ellis Co. Mark Mattingly of Pacifica Commercial Realty in Santa Barbara represented Sares-Regis.
