Syringe Maker to Build Its First U.S. Plant

PORT HURON, MI-Dispomedic 2000 Ltd, a medical syringe product manufacturer based in Israel, has announced its plans to locate its first North American production operations in Port Huron.

The company said will spend $9 million to build and equip a 60,000-sf plant in the City of Port Huron Industrial Park.

State officials said the company had been considering either Port Huron or a site in Louisiana for the new plant. The company received a Single Business Tax credit worth $1.6 million for 12 years from the Michigan government. The city chipped in an additional 12-year tax abatement for about $1.1 million.

“We see this as a very important first step in the diversification of our local economy away from its heavy dependence on the automotive industry,” said Doug Alexander, executive director of the local Economic Development Alliance.
