LOS ANGELES-Yet one more former Insignia exec is leaving the CB Richard Ellis ranks. Twenty-year real estate business veteran Robert K. Shibuya joins Trammell Crow Co. in the newly formed position of executive director of the national brokerage services group. Shibuya is responsible for leading all aspects of the company’s brokerage business to include investment services, project leasing and corporate advisory services. He will work to further grow and develop the brokerage platform, actively pursue client development, set national policy, and drive strategic initiatives within Trammell Crow’s brokerage lines of business.

Shibuya tells GlobeSt.com he was offered a “significant” role after the merger of CBRE and Insignia earlier this year, but the Trammell Crow opportunity was “too enticing to pass up. It’s an opportunity to focus on building nationally.” Shibuya says Trammell Crow is looking to become a “significant presence” in markets such as New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, Houston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Northern California and Los Angeles.

A CBRE spokesperson says, “We wish Bob well in his new endeavors. CB Richard Ellis has the greatest depth of management in the greater Los Angeles area and we expect to solidify our number one position through the integration of the talented CB Richard Ellis and Insignia/ESG brokers. This integration has been meeting with terrific success.”

“The addition of Bob to our national brokerage platform further demonstrates TCC’s commitment to developing a highly competitive brokerage and transaction business,” says Michael J. Lafitte, president, Trammell Crow Co. Global Services. “Our goal is to continue to push for higher level producers and have a network that is deeper in all major markets with appropriate coverage in secondary markets. Our approach is to add strategic hires that fit our culture and individuals who are committed to excellent customer service.”

Shibuya, who will remain based here, most recently served as CBRE’s EVP of brokerage services for the western US. Prior to this position, he was an executive at Insignia/ESG where he oversaw all business lines for the western region. In 2000, Shibuya was named “One of the Most Influential Professionals to Watch.” by the Los Angeles Times. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Building Owners and Managers Association and is a full member of the Urban Land Institute.
