David Baird, senior managing director, tells GlobeSt.com that itis the goal of the company to expand its Boston and NewJersey-based Global Life Science Practice Group in select cities inthe Mid-Atlantic and nationally. The Washington-Baltimorecorridor--which includes the Gaithersburg, MD life science hub--isa key market in this endeavor, he says.

"This office started about eight months ago as a result of theCBRE-Trammell Crowe merger, with the core group coming fromTrammell Crowe," Baird explains. Most of that activity had beenfocused on the health care industry, a complementary business lineto life sciences. The company is now leveraging that expertise tobuild out its presence in the life science sector.

In the Baltimore area, he says, C&W is "active in severalhundred thousand sf of current requirements for both landlords andtenants. That is only a fraction, though, of what we will realizewith Craig on board." Baird declined to provide specific benchmarksfor the Baltimore practice but did say he expects to see itsactivities grow "exponentially in the next few years."
