COLLEGE PARK, MD-The University of Maryland is looking forwardto start construction next year on the institution's East Campusredevelopment. The 38-acre project, which was delayed due to therecession, is expected to cost almost $900 million.

The university has picked up Baltimore-based Cordish Cos. as themaster developer. It is collaborating with David Hillman ofVienna's Southern Management Corp. to develop a 266-room hotel andretail.
