SANTA MONICA-Berkeley Point Capital has broughtAlex Katz to its origination team here as adirector as part of the firm’s larger expansion strategy. Accordingto the company, the underwriting team has doubled over the past sixmonths. Katz will be tasked with originating multifamily loans forBerkeley Point Capital.

As to the firm’s broader strategy, Mitch Clarfield,senior managing director, commented in a statement: “Ournew ownership is committed to expanding the firm’s reach and theaddition of such a seasoned Originator to our team is another stepin this direction.”

Katz was most recently the principal of CastleRockEnterprises Inc. Among other things, he was responsiblefor arranging commercial real estate debt through the US. Beforethis position, he was managing director of Meridian Capital GroupLLC’s Los Angeles office. He has also worked as a land developerfor Kushner Cos. based out of Florham Park,NJ.
