As one chairman (Boyd R. Zoccola) prepares to leave office andanother (Joseph W. Markling) begins his term, it seemed anappropriate time to ask them to reflect and project.

Asked what he feels his biggest accomplishment was, Zoccolabelieves that, in an era of cutbacks it was "growing our servicesto meet the needs of the industry." The association has grown itssuite of area-measurement standards, which now includes office,industrial, gross-area, multi-unit residential, retail andmixed-use. Plus, "We have more than 420 buildings in BOMA 360,which has become a viable alternative in the marketplacetoday."

The biggest surprise he says he encountered along the way wasactually the breadth and depth of the issues facing the industry,and therefore BOMA. With some understandable pride, he believes,"We've been able to tackle those issues, especially with ourcoalition partners and the good work we're doing with otherorganizations."
