DURHAM, NC-Skanska USA has landed a $65-millioncontract to renovate and expand the West Campus Union building atDuke University's campus here.

The international construction contracting firm will be workingwith New York City-based architectural firmGrimshaw on the 115,000-square-foot West CampusUnion building, according to the Triangle Business Journal. Theproject will include new student dining areas, food prep areas, anddedicated common spaces for faculty and students. The project isexpected to file LEED certification when complete.

“Building on the successful completion of the new Penn Pavilionduring the first phase of the West Campus projects, this next majorupgrade to our historic campus will bring new state-of-the-artamenities and services that will allow us to better serve ourstudents and faculty,” states Paul Manning,director of the Office of Project Management at Duke University.See story in the Triangle Business Journal.
