Proto Labs Completes Plymouth Bldg.

MINNEAPOLIS—Proto Labs, Inc. an online and technology-enabled quick-turn manufacturer, has just completed the renovation of the Plymouth Industrial Building at 2600 Niagara Ln., in suburban Plymouth, about 15 miles west of Minneapolis. The firm bought the facility, originally 173,503-square-feet, last year and will begin operations next Monday.

The Maple Plain-based company, which, since it was founded in 1999, has expanded its operations throughout the US, Europe and Japan, renovated and expanded the 1971 building by over 166,000-square-feet. It will initially house 175 employees, split evenly between office and manufacturing workers. The company plans to expand that number to 300 employees by May, 2017. Proto Labs US can now support up to 425 computer numerical control machines and 180 injection-molding presses used to manufacture custom parts.
