ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Blackstone Group, which islooking to redevelop 13 acres of its 20-ace OakvilleTriangle industrial park, has retainedStonebridgeCarras of Bethesda to head theredevelopment initiative at the site, which fronts Jefferson DavisHighway between Potomac Yard and Del Ray.

Meanwhile Alexandria is intent on redeveloping the area with thefirst meeting of its nine-member community advisory group scheduledfor today. The Del Ray Citizens Associationsaysthat Blackstone is proposing as much as 1.5 million square feet ofretail and residential development as well as a possible hotel atthe site on the western side of Route 1, according to theWashington Business Journal.

“StonebridgeCarras has been discussing with city staff and thecommunity, including the DRCA, a project that would have a retailfocus, with shops and restaurants along Route 1 as well as thecentral east-west street through the project, Swann Avenue,” statesBill Hendrickson, president of the citizensassociation. “The conceptual design shows a finger park on Swannthat would continue the design of the finger park on the east sideon Route 1 in the Potomac Yard development.” See story in theWashington Business Journal.
