ANNANDALE, VA—AvalonBay Communities Inc. hasassembled the rights to 10 key parcels in Fairfax County that willallow the Arlington, VA-based multifamily developer to build a251-unit apartment building at the site in BaileysCrossroads.

Avalon is in the approval process and will require a zone changeto move forward with the development that Fairfax CountySupervisor Penny Gross describes as a “pioneer project,”according to the Washington Business Journal.

The 7.4-acre site contains a mix of auto service centers,industrial lots, a shuttered restaurant, a county shelter and atemporary county fire station that are currently owned by threedifferent parties.
