BALTIMORE—In what has been described as an amicable split, threeprincipals of locally-based Chesapeake Real Estate GroupLLC have left the firm to form a new company focused onurban redevelopment ventures.

Former Chesapeake Principals Doug Schmidt,Neil Tucker and Richard Manekinhave formed Workshop Development. Schmidt,who left CBRE along with Chesapeake Principal JimLighthizer to form Chesapeake in 2005, will serve asprincipal of Workshop Development.

Over the years, Chesapeake's Lighthizer focused on largeindustrial-oriented projects in the Baltimore County region whileSchmidt, Tucker and Manekin were more involved in urbanredevelopment-oriented deals, according to the Baltimore BusinessJournal. Most recently, Schmidt, Tucker and Manekin are known forhelping develop the Shops at Canton Crossing.
