Acciona bought the 36-acre property in 2006, and has geared upnow to start the turbine construction. The site also includes a100,000-sf exterior storage area for the machines, and Ryan willsoon start work on another 30,000-sf building for moremanufacturing space. "They have about 10 workstations inside wherethey do the manufacturing, and they don't store stuff long," saysJim Kiesey with Ryan. "They ship very soon after the turbines arecompleted, to save space, and because of the demand." The buildingsare mostly heavy manufacturing facilities, with cranes that canlift up to 90 tons.

Kiesey tells GlobeSt.com that Iowa is becoming the leader inwind turbine technology firms. "The governor is behind the push inthe state, with incentives for the construction and for use of theturbines for energy. There's plants going up all over, withdevelopments in Cedar Rapids, southeastern Iowa, all over," hesays.
