The manufacturer is now at 2330 Brooklyn Rd, in about 65,000 sf.The company had considered a move to Indiana, says Amy Torres,director of economic development for the quasi-public EnterpriseGroup of Jackson. The manufacturer then planned to build a newfacility in Blackman Township nearby, but still needed theRenaissance Zone. "Politically, it was better to move into thisexisting building, instead of using incentives to build on agreenfield," Torres tells GlobeSt.com.

The Enterprise Drive property was built in 1968 on a 33-acrelot. Comprehensive Logistics, an automotive supplier, has used thebuilding for more than two years, and recently signed a lease tostay until at least July. "They have some protection for a certainperiod of time, they can renew in six-month increments, but theymay have to relocate," Ron Gernay with CB Richard Ellis tellsGlobeSt.com. He represented the tenant in the recent lease renewal,while Stephen Kurtz represented the landlord.

Gernay says it's not easy to keep companies such as ProductionEngineering in Michigan. "It's a terrible industrial market, thoughthere is activity for big users. Vacancies are high, it's achallenging time," he says.
