PHILADELPHIA-Today was the opening for the $100-million,34-story luxury apartment building at 2116 Chestnut St. here.Tenants began moving into rental units in the first 14 floors ofthe building.

Ground was broken 16 months ago for the 321-unit building thatis the first project to be built in the city by John BuckCo. of Chicago, which acquired the property in October2001 and developed the property in partnership with theIndure Fund, according to the Inquirer.John Buck, chairman and CEO of John Buck Co., saysthat 100 units have been leased through its pre-leasing campaign.Construction on 2116 Chestnut will be completed in about four tosix weeks.

The property sits on the former site of the Sidney HillmanMedical Center of the Male Apparel Industry Union. John Buck Co. isalso building a five-story replacement at Van Pelt and Sansomstreets as part of the agreement when it acquired the ChestnutStreet property. See story in The Inquirer.
