AUSTELL, GA-Officials with Six Flags Over Georgia report that the park plans a multi-million dollar expansion that will include the introduction of a new water park called Hurricane Harbor.

Six Flags Over Georgia President Dale Kaetzel says the initiative is the largest expansion in the park's 46-year history. Kaetzel adds that the project represents the company's commitment to the region and is “part of a multi-investment strategy,” according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Hurricane Harbor, which is scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend in 2014, will feature an 800,000-gallon wave pool, two water slide complexes, interactive water playgrounds and other amenities,

Kaetzel said the existing Six Flags White Water park will continue to operate once Hurricane Harbor is completed. See story in the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
