PINECREST, FL-On Friday, Trader Joe's will open its first location in Southern Florida here and its fifth store in the Sunshine State.

The Pinecrest store at 9205 S. Dixie Hwy totals 13,500 square feet and is housed in space formerly occupied by a Border's bookstore.

The specialty grocery store chain has locations in Naples, Sarasota, Gainesville and Tallahassee, according to the Miami Herald. Additional stores are planned for Boca Raton and Tampa in 2014. The chain now has more than 400 stores in 35 states. See story in the Miami Herald.
