NEW YORK CITY-Related Cos. intends to beginwork on a pivotal deck at its Hudson Yards projectin January that will thus enable the developer to finish the firsthalf of the $20-billion project.

The platform is to be constructed over a section of theMetropolitan Transportation Authority's West SideRail Yard. The platform will then allow Related to break ground onits second tower building at the property, an 80-story buildingwith an observation deck, according to Bloomberg News.

Related's timeline was revealed by Jay Cross,president of Related Hudson Yards, at a New York BuildingCongress forum held on Thursday. The developer plansto build 17 million square feet of space at Hudson Yards. See storyat Bloomberg News.
