WASHINGTON, DC—Lowe's Home Centers LLC first DCstore took a major step forward on Thursday as the home improvementchain acquired land at The Shops at DakotaCrossing.


Lowe's purchased the property in the district's Fort Lincolnsection from Fort Lincoln Retail LLC for $3.58million, according to the Washington Business Journal. Constructionon the single-story, 135,000-square-foot store in June with a storeopening projected sometime next summer.


Other major retailers at The Shops at Dakota Crossing includeCostco Wholesale, which opened its 154,000-square-foot store inNovember 2012, and Marshalls, which is expected to takeapproximately 30,000 square feet of space at the center. See storyin the Washington Business Journal.
