ARLINGTON, VA—One of the staples of this city's burgeoning techsector is considering relocating operations to the NoMa section ofWashington, DC.

Arlington County officials are scrambling trying to keepOpower, a publicly traded energy-saving softwarecompany, from leaving the area. The firm, which was praised byPresident Barack Obama in 2010 and has been a leader in promotingArlington County's economy, is considering moving the company andits more than 200 headquarters employees to NoMa, behind UnionStation, according to the Washington Post.

Company CEO and Founder Dan Yates says thecompany has decided that if it remains in Arlington tit would stayin its current building, at 1515 N Courthouse Road where it has twoyears remaining on its lease. If Opower moves to Washington, DC, itwould likely be in the NoMa district. The firm has discussedpossible incentives with district officials.
