CHANTILLY, VA—Washington, DC-based developerAkridge, which acquired 50 acres inside theWestfields International Center here in 2012, isproposing a large mixed-use project at the site 10 miles south ofDulles International Airport.

The master plan for Akridge's Preserve atWestfields, which was accepted by Fairfax County in lateAugust, calls for 925,000 square feet of residential development,280,000 square feet of office and 15,000 square feet of retailspace, according to the Washington Business Journal.

“Mixed-use has always been considered as a possibility at thislocation,” says Sarah Knutson, Akridge vicepresident for development. Akridge acquired the property for $8.25million.
