WASHINGTON, DC—The General ServicesAdministration will be holding an event next month gearedat advancing President Obama's “Capital Solar Challenge” andbringing solar power to some of the agency's DC-area portfolio.


The agency has scheduled an Industry Day at its1800 F St. headquarters on Nov. 13 to brief contactors on its solarprogram and a planned RFP the agency will release in connectionwith the solar challenge, according to the Washington BusinessJournal.


The challenge not only includes the installation of solar panelsat some federal properties, but also the purchase of renewablesolar power and energy performance contracts.


The GSA announced on Wednesday that it had awarded a powersupply contract to purchase 140 megawatts of clean wind energy fromthe Walnut Ridge Wind Farm, which is currently indevelopment in northwest Illinois. See story in the Washington BusinessJournal.
