TRENTON, NJ—A bill that would extend construction permitsoriginally issued in the 1990s was released by the AssemblyAppropriations Committee on Monday.

The proposal called the Permit Extension Actwould extend permits by two years until 2016. The first threeversions of the act were passed in 2008, 2010 and 2012, accordingto the Star-Ledger.

Business leaders praise the bill as a means to help revive thestate's economy. Environmental groups however charge that the billwill allow developers to sidestep environmental laws.
