ORLANDO-The locally based division of CNL Financial Group Inc. is constructing a 350-suite Residence Inn just south of Sea World here, and a 174-room Courtyard by Marriott in Weston, FL, 20 miles north of Downtown Miami. Both properties are scheduled to open in first quarter 2002.
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, FL-DiMucci Development Corp., a family-owned and operated multifamily developer, expects to sell out all 140 units at the 18-story, Towers Grande community by summer at prices beginning at $199,000. DiMucci has built and sold 600 luxury units at this oceanfront area since 1991. Daytona Beach Shores is 60 miles northeast of Downtown Orlando.
DAVENPORT, FL-Carlos Goffi, former mentor for Peter Fleming and the McEnroe brothers, is developing VistaPark Resort, a $65-million enterprise near Walt Disney World.
ORLANDO-The four-story, 154-unit hotel in Destin, FL is owned by Miramar Beach Hotel Co. Ltd. and managed by Southern Ventures Corp. of Fort Walton Beach, FL. Destin is 250 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.
ORLANDO-Park Development Corp. president David Townsend plans to break ground by April 1 on the $65 million Esplanade Center of Park Place and start construction on the $100 million MetroWest Place by year end. The projects are within the 1,800-acre MetroWest community of 12,000 residents near a growing affluent west Orlando urban center and two miles from Universal Orlando's theme parks.
ORLANDO-Gov. Jeb Bush is asking a 23-member panel of bureaucrats, developers and lawyers to revamp the state's thorny 15-year-old concurrency-building regulations and report back to him by mid-February.
TAVARES, FL-The one-story, 35-year-old, 13,520-sf First Union Bank building is going for $850,000 or $62.87 per sf. That's still less than building a comparable new structure to house 30 employees for $1.35 million ($100 per sf), or leasing for five years at $1.01 million at an estimated $15 per sf, county auditors feel. Tavares, Lake County's county seat, is 38 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.
HEATHROW, FL-Stirling International Realty of suburban Heathrow, FL, 20 miles north of Downtown, has signed a 10-year, 3,400-sf lease at Plaza Venezia, a planned 270,000-sf mixed-use development in the affluent Dr. Phillips Boulevard area.
ORLANDO-Baker Mellon-Stuart Construction Co. is appealing the Federal court verdict won by ADF International, a Coral Springs, FL-based specialty steel fabricator. ADF alleges Mellon-Stuart caused steep cost overruns on the $100-million retail/themed attraction.
ORLANDO-The gift from the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development will allow Osceola County to update its 16-year-old baseball complex and keep the Houston team happy until 2016 at least when the new 15-year lease expires. The facility on East U.S. 192 is 20 miles south of Downtown Orlando.
