EUSTIS, FL-For the second time in two years, the leading producer of natural gas liquids in the US is expected to ask Lake County, FL for a development order to build a $200-million, 640-megawatt merchant power plant outside Eustis, 28 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.
ORLANDO-The six-year-old, locally based real estate company plans to offer one-stop shopping by forming a title insurance company and partnering with the Atlanta-based online lender.
TAVARES, FL-Residents and a local newspaper argued the estimated $50 million, 489-acre, 323-unit single-family and multifamily Heathrow Country Estates project shouldn't be allowed to reapply for a development permit after Lake County commissioners rejected the proposal in July 2000 on a 3-2 vote. The proposed project is 24 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.
ATLANTA-The locally based paper products manufacturer and timber-growing conglomerate is paying shareholders 12 1/2 cents per share for Georgia-Pacific Group and 25 cents per share for The Timber Co. common stock. The New York Stock Exchange-traded company also named David J. Paterson as the new executive vice president of the pulp and paperboard division.
TAMPA, FL-Combination office/warehouse product is moving steadily with asking rents at about $8 per sf. The locally based brokerage completes seven deals totaling 43,528 sf with an estimated aggregate value of $2 million. Tampa is 80 miles west of Downtown Orlando.
ATLANTA-The nation's second largest wireless carrier is expanding its coverage area to Salt Lake City and Provo. The locally based firm is buying 15MHz of spectrum (wavelength) in each market from Leap Wireless International Inc. of San Diego in a deal valued at $140 million.
RALEIGH, NC-The REIT's directors will be paying shareholders a common stock cash dividend of 58 1/2 cents per share for the second quarter ended June 30. That's an increase of 3% from the first-quarter dividend of 57 cents. The second quarter dividend equates to an annual dividend of $2.34 per share.
TAMPA, FL-The privately held Rahway, NJ-based developer/investor picked up two office properties totaling 160,000 sf from its $186.3 million acquisition in May of the 2.7 million-sf Banyan Strategic Realty Trust (Chicago) asset package. Tampa is 80 miles west of Downtown Orlando.
ATLANTA-The subsidiary of locally based Lane Cos. has sold 47 out of the 60 condominium units at Freedom Lofts for a total $10.34 million or an average $220,000 per unit. The lofts are in the renovated National Linen Service Warehouse across from the Carter Center in the Ponce-Highlands neighborhood.
EUSTIS, FL-Founded 63 years ago by the heirs of New York's Waterman Fountain Pen Co., the five-story, 325,000-sf, 182-bed acute-care hospital is headed for demolition or life as a new commercial product as developers await the hospital's Aug. 15 decision.
