ORLANDO-Shannon Strobel and Weaver and Winter Park-based Essex Builders Group have completed the 13-month construction of Toscana at MetroWest, a 236-unit multifamily complex in southwest Orlando.

STUART, FL-With strong product demand and limited plant space, Whiticar Boat Inc., the grandfather of custom sports boat manufacturing and renovation on the Treasure Coast, will break ground in January on a 12,000-sf, $725,000 satellite plant.

ORLANDO-The suburban Maitland, FL-based firm will handle sales, leasing and management of the Springview mixed-use park, adjacent to the Springview residential neighborhood in DeBary, FL, 40 miles north of Downtown Orlando.

ORLANDO-Orange County has $5 million but needs another $10 million to close a potential deal with cattle rancher Steve Holland for his former TM Ranch east of Lake Hart, the area's newest hot commercial spot.

MIAMI-The 30-year-old Downtown complex is vacant except for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce offices and the Wyndham Hotel. Owner Argent Ventures of New York plans to market the asset as a telecom hotel with office and retail.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL-The Fort Lauderdale-based developer plans to build 150,000 sf of retail at Congress Avenue, south of commercially-dense Northlake Boulevard in Palm Beach county, 90 miles north of Downtown Miami.

ORLANDO-The family-operated, Seattle-based retailer won't arrive at the 1.1 million-sf Florida Mall until 2003, a year after its previously scheduled debut. The delay may hurt the south Orlando retail center as it competes with newer malls opening earlier, some analysts say. (Please see related story on Charlotte city page.)

ORLANDO-For the first time in 30 years, the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida Inc. is getting more money from businesses than from local governments, growing its annual budget to $4.5 million from $3.8 million.
