FREMONT, CA-City officials expect to pay $15 million to acquire land and develop it into a cricket field. Two sites are under consideration: one at Palm Avenue and Interstate 680, and one in south Fremont near Interstate 880 and Auto Mall Parkway.

LIVERMORE, CA-The Des Moines, Iowa-based investment firm already has inked a deal with Balch Enterprises. The land is located along the Interstate 580 corridor. It is zoned for warehousing, distribution, and research and development.

DUBLIN, CA-Property owners and their lawyers say proposed zoning for their land is inappropriate and too restrictive. Their concerns will be addressed at a City Council meeting scheduled for Dec. 19.

FREMONT, CA-The overall outlook for the revamped downtown will combine retail and office space with housing. The area will also be divided into seven subdistricts. The full draft goes to the Planning Commission this spring.

SUNNYVALE, CA-The Dallas-based online commercial real estate services company recently completed a reverse merger with Sunnyvale based Photonics Corp., and all but defunct manufacturer of computer peripherals. Photonics shareholders will own 15% of the new company.

SAN JOSE, CA-Santa Clara Valley Medical Center offices, now spread out over four separate sites, will come together in the planned $94-million facility by 2005. The County Board of Supervisors will sell bonds to finance construction.

SAN JOSE, CA-Mayor Ron Gonzales says the $325 million price tag is still a savings compared to its existing leases. It had better be. By law, a rebuilt City Hall cannot cost more than the city would save.
