PHOENIX-SRP Property pays $5.3 million for the 165-unit Desert Sunrise Apartments to a Denver seller who shaved $400,000 off the price to get to the closing table. The new owner hires a local management company for an aggressive leasing strategy.
TEMPE, AZ-Lepin and Renehan Management Inc., a homeowners' association management group, triples its office size with the purchase of a 12,000-sf building. The plan is to occupy 7,000 sf and put the remaining space on the market for lease.
SCOTTSDALE, AZ-The new role goes to Charles Hickcox, a lawyer with a strong background in real estate and three Olympic gold medals to boot. Hickcox will head up development and acquisition activity in Arizona.
PHOENIX-The non-profit Prison Fellowship Ministries joins other non-profit groups with a 2,371-sf lease in an 18,892-sf building in the CBD. The inbound tenant snags a two-year lease for $9 per sf, full service.
PHOENIX-The Phoenix Stockyards, once one of the world's largest, will be converted into a 99,000-sf office and industrial project as developer, the Jokake Cos., pursues a historic designation for the existing 20,000-sf structure. Work begins in 2004.
GLENDALE, AZ-A call center got a fully furnished office with a six-year sublease on a 25,806 sf at 4425 W. Olive Ave. The space offers the company enough expansion potential for the next two years.
PHOENIX-The 14,000-sf stores in Glendale and Scottsdale are among 30 on the books for the drug store giant in an expansion of its Phoenix-area footprint. Construction begins next month with March 2004 openings marked on the calendar.
PHOENIX-The value-oriented retailer is planning an Oct. 10 grand opening of the statewide locations to take its footprint to 35 states. The push adds nearly 2,000 jobs to the state at stores in Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff.

CHANDLER, AZ-A Seattle buyer who owns 3,000 units in the Valley adds another 346 units with the Alexan at Pecos Springs, bought for $28.7 million. The class A apartment complex was the new owner's first property in the southeast Valley.
