TEMPE, AZ-The high-tech giant acquires five lots from the City of Tempe. The city's original plan was to use the industrial site for a water-treatment facility. With that idea scuttled, Verizon taps the land for a cellular switch station.

HOUSTON-Trammell Crow, on behalf of a local investment group, launches Century Oaks Business Park, a 28-acre industrial development. The first five buildings, totaling 208,000 sf, will begin to rise in the summer.

KATY, TX-The broker credits buyer and seller with the "serious perseverance" needed to close a late summer 2001 offering. NBC Holdings, at last, gets the title from Fairfield Residential for the Kingston Villas. The asking price was $30 million.

PHOENIX-The 483-unit Sunplace Apartments brings in $9.9 million for its Las Vegas seller, who is reinvesting proceeds from multifamily sales into its hotel properties. Bigelow's Desert Star is on the market for $11.9 million.

HOUSTON-The stressed-out tony submarket, shouldering its share of class A vacancy, gets some relief with a new deal. JPMorgan Chase's office is located in the 76%-occupied, 286,773-sf Chase Bank of Texas Building.

HOUSTON-The 5959 Corporate Dr. tenant stays put, but strikes a deal to double its office space in the WiredZone property. The high-tech tenant will vacate offices in Westchase and Greenspoint in a triple location consolidation.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ-Koala Blu readies a 4,387-sf spot at the Scottsdale Horizon while furniture distributor, Steiner, heads into 3,907 sf at the Village at Prescott Gateway. The premier retail locations come with good neighbors.
