BOSTON-After over a year with no activity, 33 Arch St., the city's newest office tower, is suddenly 50% leased with the SEC leasing 65,000 sf in the 33-story building. The move comes a week after Digitas said it will be leasing 200,000 sf in the building.
BOSTON-The fate of the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center is debated at a conference sponsored by the ULI's Boston chapter and the MIT Center for Real Estate. The new 1.6-million-sf Boston Convention & Exhibition Center is scheduled to open this June.
WOBURN, MA-Yusen Associates leases 31,107 sf of office and industrial space at 44 Sixth Rd., a 100,000-sf multi-tenant facility located near Routes 93 and 128. The company, which provides sales and marketing for the electrical industry, is relocating from 16 Everberg Rd.
CAMBRIDGE, MA-Metabolix, Inc. relocates its corporate headquarters and research and development facility from 303 Third St. to 28,000 sf at 21 Erie St. The privately held biotechnology company signed a 10-year lease for the space.
BOSTON-First Marblehead Corp. is leasing 98,272 sf in the Park Square Building at 31 St. James Ave. The financial company looked at a number of other locations but decided to stay and more than double its space in the building.
BRAINTREE, MA-US Restaurant Properties, Inc., a Dallas-based REIT, emerges as the lead bidder in the acquisition of the Ground Round, Inc., a locally based casual dining chain. American Hospitality Concepts Inc., the parent company of the Ground Round, filed for bankruptcy protection this past February.
BOSTON-AMR Research, a strategic advisory firm specializing in technology, signed a 10-year lease for 46,785 sf at 125 Summer St. The 464,000-sf, class A building is owned by Equity Office Properties and, with this deal, it is now 90% occupied.
BOSTON-33 Arch St. finally lands its first major tenant. Digitas is leasing 200,000 sf in the 600,000-sf, 33-story office tower located in the city's financial district. The building's developers had been trying for over a year to get the space pre-leased.
WALTHAM, MA-Astra Tech, Inc. leases 15,734 sf of office space at 890 Winter St., a 173,000-sf class A office building owned by ING Clarion and located in the 392,000-sf Waltham Woods Corporate Center.
SOMERVILLE, MA-The city's Board of Alderman finally approve a zoning ordinance for Assembly Square Mall that paves the way for the redevelopment of the 26-acre site. Taurus New England and Gravistar have been trying for nearly six years to get a mixed-use project built on the property.
