TRENTON, NJ—Legislation that would prevent the state from using Urban Enterprise Zone dollars to fill gaps in the state budget was approved December 18 by the Senate and the General Assembly. Bill sponsor Sen. Nicholas Sacco says the UEZ funds are needed, among other things, for police services to ensure that the zones are safe enough to encourage shoppers.

LINWOOD, NJ—The city's acquisition of approximately 17 acres of land from the Cornerstone Commerce Center for use as open space appears to have quelled criticism from some circles that the property would be developed for retail or office space.
