LONDON-Freeport, the specialist outlet mall developer and operator, has finally received architectural approval from the local council of Alcochete, on the outskirts of Lisbon, Portugal, for its million-sf outlet mall and leisure destination. The decision means that construction on the project can begin before the end of August, 2002.

Freeport Chief Executive Sean Collidge said: “Construction will start mid August with completion at the end of 2003. The one million square foot designer outlet resort will be the largest in Europe and pre-commencement tenancy acceptances at the centre have been encouraging with enquiries for more than 60% of the space.”
