CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA-Alabama-based manufacturer Standard Furniture has signed a five-year, $8 million lease for 325,650 sf in a Majestic Realty master planned industrial center as the boom in new home construction creates a rising demand for distribution space. Robin Dodson, Erik Larson and John Minervini of Cushman & Wakefield represented the furniture manufacturer, which will relocate its Western U.S. warehouse and distribution center of the past five years from a smaller facility at 2500 Pellissier Place in the City of Industry to the class A, 775,000sf warehouse building at 108 Mayo Ave. in Majestic’s Grand Crossing industrial center.

Steelcase occupies the remaining space at what is the largest building in the nearly 1.2-million-sf first phase. At build-out, the 400-acre master planned industrial center near the intersection of the 60 and 57 freeways will comprise nearly 6.5 million sf of space. Founded in 1946, Standard Furniture manufactures bedroom, dining and occasional furniture including a line under the Kathy Ireland brand for sale through department stores and independent retailers throughout the United States.

Dodson comments that housing construction-related companies such as manufacturers of furniture, appliance and flooring “are riding the wave of the strong housing market in California and are looking for more warehouse and distribution space in key industrial markets.” Majestic was represented in-house by Hank Darnell.
