NOVI, MI-ITC Holdings Corp. plans to break ground early next year on a two-building, 330,000-sf headquarters in this community about 30 miles northwest of Detroit. ITC’s new facility will be built on 83 acres southwest of Haggerty and 12 Mile roads.

The company, which owns and operates more than 2,700 miles of power transmission lines in southeast Michigan, expects to begin construction on the initial phase, a 180,000-sf office space and operations control center, and parking deck, during the first quarter of 2007. Occupancy is slated for April 2008. Eventually, the headquarters will grow to 330,000 sf. ITC subsidiary ITCTransmission’s Quaker Station also will move into the new facility.

ITC has been leasing office space in Novi since April 2003. The new headquarters will initially house 300 ITC employees and contractors, but also provides room to grow. “ITC and its subsidiaries have experienced significant growth recently as we continue in our mission to rebuild our electricity transmission system to support customers’ needs for improved reliability and a lower cost of delivered energy,” says Joseph Welch, president and CEO of ITC.

Members of the project team include architectural firm Gillett Associates Inc., construction manager Cunningham-Limp, mechanical/electrical consulting engineer MA Engineering and project coordinator Grubb & Ellis.
