TAMPA, FL—You don’t see too many deals like this one. Feather Sound Country Club, an 18-hole Joe Lee/Bob Cupp Signature Course in Clearwater, FL, has a new owner. Marcus & Millichap‘s National Golf & Resort Properties Group brokered the deal.

M&M represented the seller, Fore Golf. Fore owns and operates over 40 courses nationally and also acts as a third-party fee management and consulting company.  The buyer, Premier Club Holdings, is new to the golf industry—but a major player in the insurance industry.

“The club was an outstanding acquisition for the buyer,” says Steven Ekovich, managing director of M&M’s National Golf & Resort Properties. “Feather Sound Country Club is located in Clearwater right over the Howard Franklin Bridge from Tampa, in a stellar demographic market for golf. Arguably the best located golf asset in the Tampa Bay area, the course’s new owner has an extraordinary vision of how to take the club to the next level.”

Feather Sound offers 18-holes of championship golf, a 50,000-square-foot clubhouse with banquet capacity for up to 300 guests, a lighted Har-Tru tennis facility, swimming complex, fitness center, and multiple options for both fine and casual dining. The golf course features inlets, lakes and mangroves, making it one of the most challenging and unique courses in the area.

“The property was marketed locally, regionally, nationally and internationally,” Ekovich says. “We had significant interest from the US and abroad and selected a buyer we felt would be best for the community moving forward.”

The St. Pete Times recently named Feather Sound Country Club “One of the Best 5 Private Clubs in Tampa Bay.” The Club also offers members Tour-quality practice facilities, including PGA and USPTA Professional instruction.
