ORLANDO-While Central Florida has no structures comparable to the two destroyed 110-story World Trade Center buildings in New York Sept. 11, area brokers, developers and constructors tell GlobeSt.com they expect tenants who need to be Downtown to remain there, even with the growth of new telecommunications tools.
ORLANDO-Elected officials at Sanford, FL had budgeted $10.3 million for the re-construction of a five-mile Downtown sea wall facing Lake Monroe. But Wharton Smith's bid was $11.3 million.
ORLANDO-Once one of the area's largest landowners, the Bethesda, MD-based defense contractor continues to sell off dirt near its missiles testing and fire control plant in east Orlando. Locally based DeLuca Homes paid $3.1 million or 86 cents per sf for the tract at the 911-acre Woodland Lakes community.
ATLANTA-The locally based firm is adding 10,000 sf to its existing 19,915 sf at the 100%-leased, 50,443-sf 4500 River Green Parkway complex in suburban Atlanta.
ORLANDO-The Miami-based homebuilder wants to add a total 1,425 homes to two south Lake County communities positioned in one of the fastest-growing commercial/retail corridors in Central Florida, 25 miles west of Downtown Orlando. Total home count after the additions: 4,634.
ORLANDO-After leasing and managing its six industrial flex buildings in east Orlando and Downtown for the past four years, the Winter Park, FL-based developer is turning the leasing chores over to brokers Tom McFadden and William "Bo" Bradford in the Orlando office of Advantis Real Estate Services Co. Advantis' fee wasn't disclosed.
ORLANDO-Kevin H. Azzouz, a 42-year-old retired software industry millionaire turned developer, has purchased the estimated 25,000-sf Union Church building for $1.4 million ($56 per sf) and other Downtown properties, a move residents in this suburban town of 2,300 permanent residents see as a monopoly-game maneuver to destroy the pastoral lifestyle in the 120-year-old community.
ORLANDO-SunTrust Bank, as trustee, sold the 65-acre tract at 3701 Young Pine Road, Orlando, for $925,000 or 33 cents per sf. The sale marks the last parcel of 975 acres the trustee has sold over the last 20 years, all brokered by Trevor W. Hall Jr., senior vice president, Colliers Arnold Orlando.
ORLANDO-In an ongoing effort to curb commercial development in metro Orlando, South Florida Water Management District Director Henry Dean is offering the money and challenging a sister agency, the St. Johns Water Management District, to do the same.
ORLANDO-The Herndon, VA-based developer is investing $7.35 million into the 28-year-old, 85,000-sf, 87%-leased property one block from Interstate 4 and Lee Road in suburban Winter Park, FL. Denver-based Alliance Commercial Partners is the seller.
