SHREWSBURY, MA-Town Meeting votes to acquire the 60-acre Allen Farm. AvalonBay Communities wants to develop a 300-unit residential complex on the site but the town wants to see the site--which is sandwiched between Routes 9 and 16--used for commercial space.
BOYLSTON, MA-A bid to develop a residential complex on a 15-acre parcel on Stiles Road is in trouble, as the town files a lawsuit contending that it was not properly notified about the land sale. The town has rights of first refusal on the property.
BOSTON-Emmanuel College gets city approval to buy back a 48,000-sf building it sold to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center more than 30 years ago. The former all-girls college, which recently went coed, will be restoring the office building to its original use as a 212-room dorm.
BOSTON-The Germain Group will build a 125-room boutique-style hotel in the Ames Building at One Court St. The Quebec-based hotel developer has acquired the hotel development rights to the building from Intercontinental Real Estate Corp.
BOSTON-The Boston Redevelopment Authority approves the redevelopment of the former Charles Street Jail into a 305-room luxury hotel. The agency initially postponed making a decision about the project because the developer couldn't reach an agreement with the hotel workers' union.
AUBURN, MA-Emeritus Assisted Living purchases the Village at Eddy Pond, a 110-unit assisted-living community located at 669 Washington St. The Seattle, WA-based company, a national provider of assisted-living and related services to senior citizens, currently leases the site.
MARLBOROUGH, MA-Acosta Sales and Marketing Company's regional headquarters at 130 Lizotte Dr. in the Lake Williams Corporate Center nails down its financing. The broker involved tells GlobeSt.com that the investor was attracted to the deal because of the stability of a single-tenant building.
