BOSTON-Edens & Avant opens a local office to ramp up its efforts to expand in the region. Part of the strategy is moving to close on its acquisition of part of the Konover's shopping center portfolio in the northeast, which includes four shopping centers in Massachusetts.
MALDEN, MA-Armatron leases 56,000 sf at 1 Highland Ave. in the Townline Plaza, a 135,000-sf former shopping center. The broker involved tells GlobeSt.com that the deal demonstrates the continued strength of the industrial market, especially in towns close to the city.
WAKEFIELD, MA-Sentinel Benefits Group, Inc. takes 16,707 sf at 601 Edgewater Office Park. The employee benefits company is leasing space in a five-story 160,000-sf building located in Edgewater Office Park, a seven-building complex located directly off of Route 128.
WARWICK, RI-Barnes& Noble, Inc. signs a lease agreement to open a new 28,000-sf store at 1324 Bald Hill Rd. that will replace a 24,000-sf store located across the street. The company needed additional space but was looking to remain in the area.
STONEHAM, MA-In yet a further demonstration that investors are clamoring for solid real estate investments, Kintetsu World Express sells 200 Fallon Rd. for $6.4 million. The broker involved tells GlobeSt.com that interest in the 92,000-sf building ran high.
WALTHAM, MA-Netegrity, Inc. takes 54,000 sf at the Waltham Weston Corporate Center, a 304,050-sf six-story building on Jones Road. The broker involved says it was Boston Properties' willingness to accommodate Netegrity's growth within the building that sealed the deal.
WALTHAM, MA-Raytheon Co. sells its longtime headquarters in Lexington, MA to a joint venture and leases land for a new 150,000-sf global HQ at the Waltham Woods Corporate Center. The defense contractor says it wants more modern and efficient space.
BOSTON-Harvard's School of Public Health moves into space being vacated by Agency.com. The interactive media company was allowed to buy out of its lease, on which it had eight years left, enabling Harvard to do a direct deal with the building's owner.
PEABODY, MA-Boston Marble leases 7,000 sf at 119 Foster St. at Naumkeag Business Park. The broker involved tells GlobeSt.com that warehouse space close to the city is becoming harder to find at a reasonable rate due to the Big Dig and the move to convert much of that space to higher paying office space.
LEXINGTON, MA-Rational Software takes another 18,000 sf of space to expand its corporate headquarters at 18 Hartwell Ave. in the Kiln Brook Office Park. The expansion brings the company's total space in the park to over 200,000-sf.
